Programme: Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur

One thing that has died out in the football programmes I flick through is the family shot – if you flick through old football programmes you’ll find endless examples of footballer, proud proto 80s WAG, and weans enjoying themselves to differing levels. There’s some truly wonderful examples out there – in one case at Wrexham there’s a programme cover with a newborn on it. For some reason, St Mirren don’t seem to have been involved in such malarkey, but we’ll get to that later. In the mean time, let’s have a look at a sparkling example. From the same Forest programme that gave us the Wrangler ad, it’s time to meet the Thijssens…

Ominously the end of the blurb that goes with the photo is about Frans playing tennis in the summer with a “warning that Ian Bowyer needs to watch out!”, which hopefully lead to a rivalry between Frans and “Bomber” round various Nottingham tennis courts that made Agassi vs Sampras seem tame…
